About us
HISTORY
SYMCO is a manufacturers' representative firm that services the Mid-Atlantic and New England states. Incorporated in 1975, in New Jersey, SYMCO has been representing manufacturers in these states in the Professional, Commercial, Industrial, Education and Government Audio Visual Markets.
During these years, SYMCO has developed a special rapport with both our principals - the manufacturers - and the dealers, integrators and consultants to whom we sell. These relationships have been the key component in our success, and ensure maximum penetration and sales for our company... and yours.
FUNCTION
Our purpose is to provide the manufacturer with all of the services of a factory-direct sales and marketing team, while offering the cost effective advantages of an independent representative. We establish, maintain, train and support our manufacturer's reseller base. Due to our strong, well-established relationships with the resellers and consultants, we are able to introduce new products and manufacturers, and penetrate markets very quickly.
OUR TEAM
Since 1975, SYMCO has grown to include seven experienced salesmen, and four inside sales personnel and clerical staff. Our people have grown to become a team of experts in our territory, providing maximum account penetration and sales coverage for our manufacturers.
TERRITORY
SYMCO services New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, Washington DC, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine.
MARKETING
SYMCO supplements the manufacturers own advertising and promotional programs with direct mailings, a semimonthly E-Newsletter, trade show support, training seminars, a newly updated website, and special SYMCO-sponsored regional shows.
SYMCO has hosted Regional Technology Showcases right in the center of Manhattan, and just outside of Boston, and Philadelphia over the past three years. These Showcases have been tremendously successful and offer the manufacturers an opportunity to showcase their newest technology at a large regional show.
SALES
All accounts are visited and serviced on a regular basis. In addition, our team is always available to do product demos, both to the dealers and with the dealers to the end users. We also assist the dealers, consultants and end users in system design whenever needed. Our continual contact and support has created the strong relationships, which are the foundation of our success.
COMPLIMENTARY LINES AND MARKETS
In the 30+ years that SYMCO has been representing electronics manufacturers, we have represented many industry leading lines. Many of these lines have led to substantial business with one or several of our other lines. We purposely maintain a synergistic line card with complimentary lines that help grow each other's business.
In the same manner, many of the lines that are successful in one market often find success in other, niche markets. SYMCO's knowledge of, and expertise in, a variety of these other markets, increases the exposure and sales of our manufacturers products overall.

 Frank Michael Culotta, CTS - President
 Frank Michael is a graduate of Villanova University's School of Commerce and Finance. After three years in the Public Accounting field, in 1990, he joined SYMCO and after spending 14 years as the Sales Manager for New Jersey and Delaware, now runs the company and still covers all sales responsibilities for Delaware. He is the Chair of Infocomm’s Independent Rep Council, and a member of Infocomm’s Leadership Development Committee, and the NJ Chapter of EO.
 Greg Cancel, CTS - Metro New York Regional Sales Manager
 Greg has been in the Audio Visual Industry since 1985 and has been with SYMCO since 1996. Greg’s a graduate of Kean University with a BS in Management Science with a Marketing concentration. While attending college, Greg got his start in AV working for KVL Audio Visuals, as an AV Rental Technician, working his way up to Site Manager immediately after graduation. Greg then worked as Sales Administrator for AV Bluebook, a national distributor of AV equipment, before joining SYMCO. Greg handles Metro NY: NYC, the boroughs, Long Island, Westchester County & Fairfield County, CT.
 Gordon Bates, CTS – Regional Manager for New England States
 Gordon has been working in the television and multimedia markets in New England for 26 years, beginning with Broadcast sales for Lake Systems in Boston, selling major television systems on a national basis. Gordon then went with Crimson Tech, a large systems integrator in Cambridge, MA, and then to became the New England sales manager for OmniVue , a manufacturer's rep firm out of New York City.
And just prior to joining Symco in 2005, Gordon was responsible for sales in northern New England for Great Northern Video.
 Jim Hurst, CTS – Regional Manager for New Jersey
 Jim has held various management positions in the AV industry. Starting in 1991 with PLUS Vision Corporation, where he was responsible for National Sales, and more recently as a Regional Sales Manager with Casio and LG Electronics. Jim's diverse experience in the presentation and display markets has exposed him to a wide variety of resellers, distribution channels and vertical markets in the USA.
 Brian D. Houser, CTS - Regional Sales Manager for PA and Upstate NY
 New to the Symco team, Brian has been in the Audio/Video industry for over twenty-five years. Half of this time has been spent in the video production world as an editor, audio specialist & a live event director and the other time working as a system integration specialist with two Pennsylvania AV system integrators. Brian has had great success selling systems in the Government, Corporate, Production and Higher Education markets. He brings a wealth of practical knowledge, and strong technical ability and sales skills.
 Frank A. Culotta, Consultant and Imaging and Home Theater Sales Manager
 1963 – Graduated RETS Electronics School in Maryland with a degree in Communications Engineering, then attended University of Maryland majoring in Business Administration. For several years after attending University of Maryland, Frank worked in the radar field for Westinghouse. Later, while in the United States Army, Frank attended technical school for microwave and transmitters. In 1969, he entered the sales field with MTI, later to become Dage-MTI, a manufacturer of television cameras. Frank became Special Accounts Manager for Telemation Inc., from 1973 to 1975, at which time he started SYMCO. He is a member of ICIA, CEDIA, NSCA, ITVA, SBE and SMPTE.
 Chuck Motta, Manager of New Business Development
 Chuck has a long and very impressive history in top management positions at Chyron, Prime Image, and Professional Products, among others. His vast experience and relationships in Broadcast/Production and Corporate, Educational and Government A-V is the perfect foundation for his role on the Symco sales team. Chuck works with all types of customers, on all types of projects, and gets our manufacturers’ products into projects…at the customer level.
 Ron Hedenberg, New Business Development Manager - IT Channel
 With more and more AV products having IP network capabilities Symco recognizes the need to expand its reach and overlap our core AV expertise with the Information Technology field. In addition to having a strong AV rep background early in his career, Ron comes to Symco with over 20 years of sales experience in the IT industry. While working for companies like Cabletron / Enterasys, McAfee & Tenable he has sold into the Government, Healthcare & Higher Education verticals, as well as the Fortune 1000 within the NY/NJ and Northeast territories. His knowledge of IT systems includes IP Switching/Routing, Wireless, Intrusion Detection, Security and Regulatory Compliance. Ron is a graduate of The New Jersey Institute of Technology with a B.S. in Computer and Information Science.
 Mike Saunders – Regional Manager for MD, VA, WV and Washington D.C.
 Residing in Annapolis, Mike is an innovative technical manager with a broad range of experience, and has the ability to work in all aspects of presentation technology and broadcasting…as a result of his extensive experience as both a system designer and an operator. For the past 13 years Mike has held various positions with The Freedom Forum in Washington D.C., including Manager of Presentation Technologies, Project Manager for the Newseum Conference Center and their remote sites, and Broadcast Engineer for their Arlington conference facilities.
He has experience with many of the DC area integrators - as a former customer of theirs - and as a customer in his past life knows exactly what customers are looking for…someone who visits, cares and educates them, asks the right questions and then listens so that they hear what it truly needed or desired, and knows their products and how they fit the customers’ system and needs. These skills are Mike’s foundation …and we are excited to have him on our team!
